NOLA ChristmasFest 2017 Breaks Five-Year Attendance Record

Posted on

(NEW ORLEANS) – Officials with the New Orleans Morial Convention Center today announced that the 2017 NOLA ChristmasFest shattered all previous attendance records since 2013 hosting an estimated 43,500 attendees during this season’s 11-day holiday extravaganza.

NOLA ChristmasFest, one of the largest indoor holiday events along the Gulf Coast, celebrated its last day Sunday closing its doors and the extravagant winter wonderland at 5 pm. NOLA ChristmasFest has seen increases in attendance every year since its inception, and Convention Center officials keep expanding the fest each year to keep up with the growing crowds.

Even though this year’s NOLA ChristmasFest was four days shorter than previous years, officials say attendance records were shattered as awareness of the holiday signature event increased among both locals and visitors.

“The festival is in keeping with the Convention Center’s mission to stimulate the local economy. The long term objective for NOLA Christmas Fest is to attract visitors from throughout the region during a traditionally slow period for meetings and conventions,” said Melvin Rodrigue, Chairmain of the Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority Board of Commissioners.

NOLA ChristmasFest featured the return of a real ice rink this year along with two ice slides, a walk-through  gingerbread house, huge inflatables, amusement park rides, gingerbread creations and a snowball fighting arena amidst dozens of decorated trees and dazzling lights.

Officials say plans are already underway for an expanded NOLA ChristmasFest 2018 with the exact dates of next year’s event to be announced in the coming weeks.
