Twenty-one students of the New Orleans Culinary and Hospitality Institute (NOCHI) began their education on January 7 as the school kicked off its first set of classes. The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center Exhibition Hall Authority purchased the 90,000-square-foot building for $12 million and leased the property back to NOCHI.

After a nationwide search, the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center has named Adam Straight as Vice President of Operations. In this capacity, Straight will be tasked with the oversight of plans and strategies for Convention Center event operations. Departments reporting to Adam will include Production Services, Food and Beverage, Public Safety, Environmental Services and more.

The local nonprofit organization “Son of a Saint” was awarded a check for $5,164 as the result of a successful fundraiser during NOLA ChristmasFest. Attendees of the 12-day NOLA ChristmasFest were given the opportunity to make a $5 donation benefitting Son of a Saint. Donators were then entered into a raffle for a 3-night, all-inclusive trip to the Dreams Las Mareas resort in Costa Rica, donated by Copa Airlines.

A new attraction of the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, the Streetcar Bar was officially christened Wednesday evening during a preview party for NOLA Christmas Fest, which runs December 20 through 31 at the Convention Center.
The Streetcar Bar is a three-quarter sized replica of the internationally recognized streetcars of New Orleans. This new installation is 33 feet long and functions as a full bar serving patrons from the windows of the Streetcar Bar.
