NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center opened its new Transportation Center for buses, shuttles, taxis and ride shares to rave reviews. Eastbound Right Lane of Poydras Street to Temporarily Close Monday, September 30

The eastbound right hand lane of Poydras Street in front of Gordon Biersch will temporarily close for construction on Monday, September 30, 2019, around 11:00 am. to facilitate a portion of the demolition and roadwork that extends into the Poydras intersection. The lane will be closed for approximately three weeks.

Convention Center Authority Extends Deadline for Responses to RFQ for Master Developer to October 18th

Due to strong interest from both the local and national development community, the Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority (Authority) has extended the deadline for the initial response to its selection process to find a qualified developer for its development upriver.  Request for Qualifications (RFQ) responses will now be due on October 18th.

The Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority (Authority), the governing board of the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, is soliciting responses from qualified Master Developers to create a Comprehensive Development Plan and Strategy for the approximately 20 acres of the Authority’s overall 47 acre parcel adjacent to the Convention Center in downtown New Orleans.

Traffic Advisory: Convention Center Boulevard to Close Monday, August 26 to Sunday, September 1

Convention Center Boulevard, from Julia Street to lake-bound Calliope Street will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at dawn on Monday, August 26 until dusk on Sunday, September 1, to accommodate Entergy’s relocation of existing utility poles.  Motorists are encouraged to take other routes into and out of the Central Business District during this period. Designated crosswalks on Convention Center Boulevard for pedestrians will remain open.

The 54th Annual National Convention of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will be suspending their activities today at approximately 1:00 p.m. in response to the impending tropical storm.  The Sorority had convened approximately 15,000 members on Thursday, and had activities planned through Sunday.  The Convention Center staff had been in regular consultation with the organizers of the Convention throughout the development of the storm.

Convention Center Blvd. Traffic Plan for Essence Festival

The New Orleans Police Department and Louisiana State Police will implement a traffic plan for the upcoming Essence Festival.  Events will be held in the Convention Center from 9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. starting Friday, July 5 through Sunday, July 7.  Heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic is expected for the event.

The following plan will be put in place each day to help facilitate traffic flow and ensure the safety of everyone attending the events and/or visiting the area.
