The Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority (Authority), the governing Board for the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, reached another major milestone in its initiative to assist small and emerging companies to succeed by announcing Rocsean Spencer as its first Small Business Program Director.  The Authority recently created the position to help promote the importance of diversity, inclusion and small business development at the Convention Center.

Convention Center Boulevard To Close Between Calliope Streets

Beginning 10 a.m. Friday, February 8th through 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 12th Convention Center Boulevard will be closed between the river bound and lake bound lanes of Calliope Streets to erect the 75 foot steel beams that will support the canopy from the Transportation Center to the Convention Center over Convention Center Boulevard.    Traffic will be re-routed to South Peters which remains two way between the two Calliope Streets.

The HOV lane will remain open during this period.

New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center-Funded New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute Welcomes Inaugural Class

Twenty-one students of the New Orleans Culinary and Hospitality Institute (NOCHI) began their education on January 7 as the school kicked off its first set of classes. The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center Exhibition Hall Authority purchased the 90,000-square-foot building for $12 million and leased the property back to NOCHI.

New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority Maintains AA+ Bond Rating

Solid financial strength allowed the Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority (“the Authority”) to maintain its AA+ bond rating from Fitch Ratings. Fitch also noted that the Authority’s special tax bonds have a “stable outlook.”  The Fitch Group is a global leader in financial information services including credit ratings that provide valuable insights for investors in long-term debt.  Fitch’s AA+ bond rating is one of the highest that can be achieved.

New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center Announces Hire of New Vice President of Operations

After a nationwide search, the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center has named Adam Straight as Vice President of Operations. In this capacity, Straight will be tasked with the oversight of plans and strategies for Convention Center event operations. Departments reporting to Adam will include Production Services, Food and Beverage, Public Safety, Environmental Services and more.

“Son of a Saint” Organization Receives More Than $5,000 from Fundraiser Held at NOLA Christmas Fest

The local nonprofit organization “Son of a Saint” was awarded a check for $5,164 as the result of a successful fundraiser during NOLA ChristmasFest. Attendees of the 12-day NOLA ChristmasFest were given the opportunity to make a $5 donation benefitting Son of a Saint. Donators were then entered into a raffle for a 3-night, all-inclusive trip to the Dreams Las Mareas resort in Costa Rica, donated by Copa Airlines.

Convention Center Boulevard To Close Monday, January 14th from 5:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Convention Center Boulevard, from Julia Street to Henderson Street will be closed to vehicular traffic, Monday, January 14th from 5:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to accommodate a Presidential visit. Motorist are encouraged to take other routes into and out of the Central Business District during this period.

New “Streetcar Bar” Christened at New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center

A new attraction of the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, the Streetcar Bar was officially christened Wednesday evening during a preview party for NOLA Christmas Fest, which runs December 20 through 31 at the Convention Center.

The Streetcar Bar is a three-quarter sized replica of the internationally recognized streetcars of New Orleans. This new installation is 33 feet long and functions as a full bar serving patrons from the windows of the Streetcar Bar.

Maria Joe has been named Event Manager at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center  – the sixth largest convention center in the nation. In her new capacity, she will be responsible for managing all aspects of the event planning process. As a liaison between the Center and clients, she will guide clients through event preparation and show set-up, monitor in-house events and oversee all related activities for her clients to ensure successful events.

Monday, November 26th, through approximately mid-January, Calliope Street river bound will be tapered down to one lane between South Peters and Convention Center Boulevard, which is expected to cause additional congestion.  Calliope Street river bound will remain open; however, motorists are advised to remain aware of the directional signs and consider alternate routes.
