The Major American Trade Show Organizers, or MATSO, convened their Spring 2018 Program at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center May 2nd and 3rd during the Collision Conference, the fastest growing technology event in North America. MATSO members manage events with 200,000 net square feet of exhibit space or more.
The meeting featured several industry specific presentations and a visit to the floor of the Collision Conference which was a departure from tradition as MATSO typically visits a member event. The Collision Conference brings Fortune 500 companies, groundbreaking startups and world-class speakers together in a setting unique to the trade show world in many ways.
“MATSO came to Collision Conference to experience a different kind of event and it delivered,” said Kelly Kilga, Chair of MATSO and VP of Meetings and Events for the Association of Print Technologies. “Our members were able to consider elements of futuristic show concepts that can be used at their events to appeal to new and returning attendees. A key element to the success of this MATSO program was the assistance of the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau and the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, who worked closely with the Collision Conference organizers to provide access to their event and hosted the MATSO attendees with wonderful hospitality.”
“We were honored to host such a distinguished and experienced group of industry professionals many of which are clients of New Orleans,” says Hemphill. “It gave us an opportunity to give the group a glimpse of the exciting plans for the Convention Center and New Orleans that are on the horizon on our City’s 300 birthday year.”
Among the topics presented were the plans for the new airport terminal opening in early 2019 and plans to construct a 1,200 room hotel connected to the Convention Center.
