A CLEAN Sweep in New Orleans
07/22/2009
The World Educational Congress for Laundering and Drycleaning made a “CLEAN” sweep at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center with a successful trade show drawing nearly 10,000 people – including more than 1,200 international attendees from 72 countries – and producing $12.3 million in economic impact for the city.
The CLEAN Show is the world’s largest exhibition of textile care products featuring working equipment. Professionals from all segments of the textile care and services industry, including retail, commercial, institutional, coin/card, industrial laundering and dry cleaning, attended.
“It was the smoothest Clean Show ever,” said John Riddle, president of Riddle & Associates, the trade show’s producers. “New Orleans was prepared and hospitable. Our trade show was as flawless as a trade show can be, and all involved deserve accolades.”
Riddle said the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center is one of three convention centers in the country that can accommodate the requirements for this trade show. “Our show is an extensive user of utilities – electricity, water, steam, drains – and the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center did an outstanding job of providing these,” said Riddle. The facility’s built-in steam system and the exhibit space on a single floor are the primary reasons the CLEAN Show selected New Orleans. The CLEAN Show was previously held at the Convention Center in 1995 and 2001.
“The CLEAN Show demonstrates the versatility of the Convention Center. Our size, flexibility and amenities allow us to accommodate a wide variety of events,” said Bob Johnson, president/general manager of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. “We are happy we were able to meet their needs and we look forward to having them back in the coming years.”
