The New Orleans Convention Center has contracted New Orleans Emergency Medical Service to be the exclusive medical services provider at the Center, beginning November 21, 2010, providing the most responsive option for meetings, conventions and events at the Center.
No other Convention Center can claim the level of emergency services with such proven experience in managing large-scale festivals and events such as Mardi Gras and Super Bowls on a routine basis. And, New Orleans EMS, the sole 911 provider of EMS in Orleans Parish, has the unique capability to use their interoperable radio system to communicate with New Orleans Police Department, New Orleans Fire Department and other municipal EMS services throughout this region and state wide.
New Orleans EMS will provide pre-hospital emergency care to attendees during shows, staffing three permanent medical stations located throughout the Convention Center. They will also provide ambulance response, mobile services, advance cardiac life support, advance pediatric life support, pediatric emergency care and pre-hospital trauma life support.
As added benefits, New Orleans EMS is a key agency in the Center’s emergency evacuation plan; is directly connected to all local, state and federal emergency management agencies and is stationed immediately adjacent to the Center from which all of their medical units are dispatched.
