Professional Convention Management Association’s (PCMA) has nominated New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center Event Manager Garrett Lemoine for their Distinguished Convention Service Manager of the Year award.
According to PCMA, the nominations are based on “exceptional performance, professional expertise, and seamless dedication toward fulfilling all logistical requirements of the meeting in an efficient and responsive manner. The nominee should exhibit a positive attitude, strong communication skills, cooperation and dependability, in addition to exceptional overall performance, poise, and on-site availability.”
Lemoine’s strong sales and customer service background prepared him for success at the Convention Center, where he began ten years ago as a service coordinator in the Exhibit Services department. After three years, he was promoted to event manager in the Event Services department.
“It’s no surprise to us that Garrett’s professionalism has earned him the respect and admiration of his peers. His job knowledge, reliability and efficiency are an asset to the Convention Center,” said Bob Johnson, president/general manager of the Convention Center. “We applaud Garrett’s well-deserved recognition from PCMA.”
Lemoine is one of seven event managers who share 140 years of convention center experience combined. The event managers oversee the event planning process and are responsible for guiding clients through event preparation and show set-up.
PCMA represents approximately 6,000 meeting industry leaders including planner professionals, suppliers, faculty and students. The awards will be announced at their Annual Meeting in 2010. Their 2009 meeting was held in New Orleans at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
