Services Contractor/Tour Tax
The Service Contractor Tax is a 2% tax on the total charges for the furnishing of goods and services in conjunction with the installation, operation and dismantling of any convention or trade show/exhibition taking place in the City of New Orleans. The following is a list (though not exhaustive) of specific types of services against which the tax is levied:
- Electrical Supplies/Services
- Material Handling
- Flowers & Floral Decorations
- Audio/Visual Equipment
- Bands & Orchestras
- Rigging & Associated Equipment
- Business Machines
- Catering Food Services
- Compressed Air or Gas
- Information Retrieval Systems
- Any services provided in connection with installation or dismantling of:
- Any other services associated with the above

All contractors providing any of these services within the City of New Orleans, even on a one time basis, must register and submit the appropriate tax forms and payments to the State of Louisiana.
To assist the State in the collection of these taxes, we also request show management to provide to VP of Finance & Administration a list of all known service contractors who will be working on their event 90 days prior to move in. Questions about the information required should be directed to the Office of the VP of Finance & Administration.
