Environmental Services- General Cleaning Foreman

General Description:
The General Cleaning Foreman is responsible for overseeing the overall cleaning of the interior of the facility. This individual shall monitor the cleanliness in the meeting room space, lobbies, service ways, office areas and food service areas to ensure that the facility is maintained in world-class condition.

Qualifications: Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and two to four years related experience and/or training in housekeeping in a convention, hotel and/or large multi-purpose facility preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of one year experience in a supervisory role desired. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required.

 

Facility Services- Facility Attendant I
Salary: $14.28/ hour

General Description:
The Facility Attendant I is responsible for performing the duties necessary for general housekeeping and exhibit hall/meeting room set-ups for the New Orleans Morial Convention Center.

Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training preferred.

 

Environmental Services- Facility Attendant II
Salary: $16.44/ hour

General Description:
The Facility Attendant II is responsible for assisting the Environmental Services Foreman in ensuring that the facility is maintained in world-class condition.

Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training. Ability to work irregular/extended hours as necessary including nights, weekends and holidays as show schedules dictate. Certification in the safe and proper operation of personal lifts, fork lifts and sweeping/ scrubbing equipment required.

 

Event Services- Event Coordinator

General Desciption:
The Event Coordinator is responsible for providing on-site supervision of events taking place in the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and ensuring the proper coordination of activities of support personnel to ensure successful events.

Qualifications: Associate’s degree from two-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training in event coordination in a convention center, large hotel, or other large meeting facility; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays as show schedules dictate. A basic proficiency in Microsoft Office products and ability to use graphic instructions, such as layouts and set up plans a must. Experience with Event Work Order software preferred.  Salary: Commensurate with Experience. The New Orleans Ernest N. Financial Operations- Financial Operations Manager
Salary: Commensurate w/experience

General Description:
The Financial Operations Manager administers the work product of the Purchases and Payables Supervisor as well as the work of the Warehouse Supervisor. This position directs daily procurement processes and payments to vendors. The Manager oversees the planning, organizing and operation of the warehouse area. The Financial Operations manager monitors the accounts payable sub ledger, analyzes the monthly budget to actual numbers and compiles information for budget preparation, external audits and other projects. The position acts as liaison with the Financial Reporting Division to ensure purchases and AP are recorded to the general ledger.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university desired; and four to six years customer service and supplemental accounting experience and/or training preferably in a large convention and/or large multi-purpose facility. Public Safety- Assistant Director of Public Safety

General Description:
The Assistant Director assists the Director of Public Safety in the operational planning, implementation and supervision of all security/safety programs for the New Orleans Morial Convention Center. This individual is responsible for coordinating all security requirements in support of events, supervises Public Safety personnel,
oversees all facets of security training and investigations and assists the Director in the enforcement and adherence of all security, fire and life safety rules and regulations to ensure operational efficiency and public safety.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; and four to six years related experience and/or training in a convention, hotel and/or large multi-purpose facility preferred. Minimum of three years in a supervisory or management position desired. Certificate from an accredited security venue may be substituted for years of experience. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ability to work extended/irregular hours as necessary including nights, weekends and holidays. Event Services- Secretary
Salary: $12.69/hour- $14.28/hour

General Description:

The Secretary of the Event Services Division is responsible for all of the supportive, clerical and office functions required to successfully assist clients, contractors, attendees and New Orleans Morial Convention Center personnel in the successful execution of events. The Secretary shall receive calls and respond to event requests via telephone, e-mail and/or radio in a professional manner. Perform routine and non-routine administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; and six months to one year related experience and/or training in a clerical field. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required. Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes occasional nights, weekends and holidays as show schedules dictate.

 

 

Operations Administration- Assistant Director of Building Operations

General Description:
The Assistant Director of Building Operations is primarily responsible for assisting the Director of Building
Operations in managing day to day operations, maintenance and the Building Automation Systems of the New
Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. This individual shall also assist in overseeing all aspects of eventrelated
services and systems provided by the department and support services necessary for hosting successful
events.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management from four-year college or university; and four to six years related experience and/or training in a convention and/or large multi-purpose facility desired; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of three years in a supervisory role preferred. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required. Must be able to demonstrate a high emphasis on customer service and possess excellent verbal, written and communication skills; prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, perform under minimal supervision and work irregular/ extended hours as necessary; maintain confidentiality and possess highly detailed and analytical abilities. General Description:
The Electrician III is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all electrical installations and systems of the New Orleans Morial Convention Center. This individual is responsible for monitoring, repairing and installing all electrical equipment according to established industry guidelines, local and national codes.

Qualifications:
Highschool diploma or general education degree (GED); Technical school background or apprenticeship program preferred. Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Class D City of New Orleans Electrical License required.

 

Public Safety- Guest Services Ambassador
Salary: $14.62-$16.44
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

General Description:
The Guest Services Ambassador (also known as GSA) is responsible for providing excellent customer service and creating an exceptional experience to all guests of the MCCNO. The GSA must be able to effectively communicate information verbally and graphically (via MCCNO provided equipment) regarding the event, building, and the City of New Orleans. Additionally, it is the responsibility of the GSA to maintain the cleanliness, comfort, safety, and overall appearance of his/her assigned area. The GSA must be able to offer assistance to attendees throughout all areas of the MCCNO. The expression “Going above and beyond” is a normal operating standard for this position. The GSA reports to the Public Safety Department as well as the Event Services Department at times. This individual shall serve as a Public Safety Officer on non-event days.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years security, safety and customer service related experience and/or training in the hospitality industry preferred. Certification in first aid and CPR desired. To perform this job successfully, the employee must have a basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, familiar with internet operations and have basic knowledge of iPad use.

 

Public Safety-Public Safety Officer
Salary: $12.69-$14.28

General Description:
The Public Safety Officer is responsible for performing duties associated with security, public safety, fire safety and emergency response in accordance with policies and procedures set by the New Orleans Morial Convention Center. This individual is responsible for protecting the building, personnel and guests against possible safety infractions and responds to and documents all incidents related to public safety.

Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Two years security, safety or law enforcement related experience and/or training preferred. Certifications in first aid and CPR desired.  This individual shall be able to work extended/irregular hours as necessary including nights, weekends and holidays, professionally interact with diverse groups of people in high pressure situations and have reliable transportation.
