General Description: The Director of Event Services is responsible for the event management staff that arranges, coordinates and supervises of all events held in the New Orleans Morial Convention Center and ensures maximum client satisfaction and enhances and promotes repeat business.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business management or related field; and six to ten years related experience in a large scale convention and/or multi-purpose facility preferred. Five years related experience in a major administrative capacity desired. Food and Beverage and public admission experience a plus. (Education to experience ratio accepted) CMP desired.

 

Plant Maintenance-Engineer III

General Description: The Engineer III is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Physical Plant and HVAC systems of the New Orleans Morial Convention Center. This individual monitors all systems as to the proper and safe limitation of plant equipment in accordance with industry guidelines.

Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Technical school background in related field preferred. Four to ten years related experience and/or training. Second Class Stationary Engineer’s license with A/C and Boiler endorsements and Universal Refrigeration license required.

 General Description: The Public Safety Officer is responsible for performing duties associated with security, public safety, fire safety and emergency response in accordance with policies and procedures set by the New Orleans Morial Convention Center.  This individual is responsible for protecting the building, personnel and guests against possible safety infractions and responds to and documents all incidents related to public safety. 

Qualifications:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Two years security, safety or law enforcement related experience and/or training preferred. Certifications in first aid and CPR desired.  This individual shall be able to work extended/irregular hours as necessary including nights, weekends and holidays, professionally interact with diverse groups of people in high pressure situations and have reliable transportation.

 

Sales and Marketing –Sales Manager

General Description:

The Sales Manager is responsible for prospecting and soliciting event space sales for the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, with an emphasis toward new business development by promoting and increasing the awareness of the Convention Center to accounts in assigtned markets and assists the sales team and hospitality community as required.  This individual shall work cooperatively and expeditiously with the NOMCVB and peer groups within the hospitality industry on the planning and execution of joint sales efforts.  Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; and two to four years related experience and/or training in a convention, hotel and/or large multi-purpose facility desired.  CMP, CEM or CGMP designation preferred.  Ability to work under minimal supervision, work extended/irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays as necessary and travel required.

General Description:

The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for processing check requests, show customer payments, vendor payments and verifying the accuracy of expense coding.  This individual is also responsible for handling vendor calls regarding inquiries and/or discrepancies and assists with special projects as necessary.Qualifications:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  College, vocational or business school coursework with an emphasis in accounting preferred.  Minimum of one year experience in a related accounting function; knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures required.Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.

 

Facility Attendant I- Environmental Services

General Description

The Facility Attendant I is responsible for performing the duties necessary for the cleanliness of exhibit hall space, parking lots and the exterior grounds of the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.  Qualifications:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training preferred.

 

Human Resources-Onboarding Specialist/ Trainer
Salary: Comm. w/experience
FLSA Classification: Exempt

General Description:

The Onboarding Specialist/Trainer performs a variety of responsible and complex technical and administrative duties relating to personnel and training functions. This individual shall serve as a core facilitator and backup facilitator in the absence of the SPICE Training Manager and assist the Human Resources Manager with recruiting and onboarding.  Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university; and two to four years experience and/or training in related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Background in Human Resources and/or training preferred.  Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.  Experience in Photoshop or other graphics software preferred.
